Professional Experience

The Joy Truck Project

March 2021-Current. Piscataquis County, ME

Founder and Creative Director

The Joy Truck is an entirely grant funded traveling community resource center in a 23ft long delivery truck that distributes free resources such as books, clothes, arts and making tools and harm reduction information and supplies to rural and impoverished communities in northern central Maine. This position involves networking, extensive grant writing, scheduling, development of programming and consistent public interaction (for planning purposes as well as ensuring accurate and ethical responses to community needs). Generous funding from: Ella Lyman Cabot Trust, Maine Arts & Humanities, Onion Foundation, Awesome Without Borders and the New England Grassroots Environment Fund.

American Exchange Project

May 2022-Current Piscataquis County, and National

Exchange Manager

Alignment and coordination of a week-long domestic exchange program for graduating seniors to experience a town or city completely unlike their own. Supporting the mission and vision of civic empathy and widening the worldview of youth. Duties include promotion of programs within high schools, selecting and guiding teen leadership crew from the host town, securing and supporting host families and promoting the project within local communities, coordinating and booking flights for visiting students, attending trainings and regular check-ins for national exchange managers and developing week-long itinerary. This is a 6 month job, with the peak being the one-week exchange during which all events, transportation and coordination are expected.

Visiting Artist Host and Events Support: University of Maine at Orono

August 2021- May 2023. Orono, ME

Graduate Assistant

Position for Intermedia Department involving significant promotion, distribution of events, assisting to the needs of virtual and in-person visiting artists pre-event, during the event and after. Coordination of event technology, meals, transportation for visiting artists as well as presentation support and facilitation of Q&A after introducing each artist. Additional scheduling and management of studio visits the following day were included and facilitating follow-up workshops later in the year.

Piscataquis Regional Food Center

March 2019-May 2021 Dover-Foxcroft, ME

Community Food Services Coordinator

Facilitation and management of non-profit programming involved in food access for those in need in Piscataquis County and the Central Highlands of Maine. Program specific responsibilities include development of a narrative project aimed to tell the story of seniors served by FarmShare for Homebound Seniors, a program delivering vegetables to seniors who can’t leave their home. Project manager for FarmShare for Homebound Seniors and the pilot project Garden in a Box, assisting individuals with limited space, income or physical ability to grow their own vegetables in containers.

Voices from HOME Oral History Project

March 2019-Current Dover-Foxcroft, ME

Central role in the planning committee for an oral history project led by the Thompson Free Library. Involvement includes writing articles and transcripts, planning community events, story slams and monthly themes in a collaborative group process. Special notice on virtual pivot and initiation of state-wide story archiving efforts due to Covid19.

Marr Pond Farm

March through November 2019-2020  Sangerville, ME

Farm Hand

Seasonal farm hand for a certified organic farm growing vegetables, shiitake mushrooms and flowers. Duties include seeding crops, pest management, weeding, harvesting, packing produce for wholesale, CSA and vending regularly at local farmers markets.

Creative Class

Teacher

Facilitated one-on-one student-led designs and projects for a home-schooled teenager. Finale of Creative Class was planning, design creation, and execution of photoshoot at local Transfer Station.

Aeons by Design

Owner/Designer

An ethereal/nature-based jewelry/sculpture line. Refining discarded items and synthesizing problems of waste with elegant design. Incorporating conversation with the public on material sourcing, environmental awareness and social dynamics. Materials used: leather, bark, beads, bones, feathers, metal, ribbon, found objects. Workshops and classes geared towards self directed creativity and story-telling offered in conjunction with personal artistic expression. Workshop attendees ranged in age and gender.
